At First Assembly we believe in being yourself, so just wear what you normally would. We don't care about what you're wearing nearly as much as we care about meeting you.

7:00 pm - Adult Bible Study and ministry for all ages

Our Staff

Pastor Bob Gruver, Senior Pastor

Pastor Bob grew up in a minister's home (20 years), served in the United States Air Force (20 years), and has led First Assembly for the past thirteen years.

Motivated by the motto to "make things better...", he enjoys sports, good fellowship, and his grandchildren (Elaina , Ethan, Jennifer, Lauren and Michelle). The grandpa bug has gotten hold of him.

Pastor George Mullen, Senior Associate Pastor

Pastor George and Janice grew up in Ottumwa, IA. Pastor George attended Central Bible College for a year and then transfered to North Central University where he graduated.

They pastored 45 years at First Assembly of God in Iowa City, IA from 1960 to 2005.

After retirement, they moved to Albemarle, NC, in February of 2006 where there son Curtis and daughter-in-law Dr. Raquel Mullen and their five children live.

They enjoy good fellowship, table games, bicycling, and traveling. Also, high on the list are their children Dawn & James Gaines and granddaughter, Janna; and Curtis & Raquel Mullen and grandchildren, Julianne, Jashua, Kayla, Justin, and Mikkal.

Pastor Matt Miller, Youth Pastor

Pastor Matt, although a native of Tennessee, grew up in Naples, Florida. He met his wife, Erica, at Southeastern University. Graduating from SEC in the fall of 2005, Matt and Erica came to First Assembly of God in Albemarle to start their lives and ministries together.

Matt and Erica are passionate about developing young people in leadership and, most importantly, helping students build a strong relationship with Christ. They both love spending time with students and watching God radically change lives through the power of His Holy Spirit.

Matt and Erica have a son, Liam, who God blessed them with in November of 2009. They all enjoy playing with their two pets, Sydney (dog) and Rooster (cat).

Pastor Harry Jones, Children's Pastor

Pastor Harry served as Children's Pastor at First Assembly from 1988-1996 before he and his family sensed the Lord moving them to another church where he ministered as Children's Pastor from 1999-2002. God has brought Harry and his family back to First Assembly where he is again serving the children.

He has 2 children and 4 grandchildren.
